Instagram is a social platform owned by Facebook and users can share their pictures and videos on this social platform. Recently Facebook rewarded 22 Lakh INR to an Indian ethical hacker as he has highlighted a serious Instagram bug.

A lot of celebrities and common people are using Instagram on daily basis. They used to share their photos and videos on this platform. Instagram allows its users to keep photos and videos private. If an account is private, you will need to follow that account and get approval from the user to watch the content he or she shares.

Indian ethical hacker, Mayur Fartade, has found a bug in Instagram and reported that bug to the support. For this help, Facebook has rewarded him Rs. 22 Lakh INR.

The bug he found is considered a security threat for those who don’t want to share their pictures publicly. Mayur Fartade found that anyone can watch archived photos, stories, Instagram Reels, and IGTV without requiring to follow the account.

Because of this bug, you can even watch the archived content when the account is set to private. Mayur Fartade reported this bug to Facebook during the month of April.

He sent the following message to Facebook:

Data of users can be read improperly. An attacker could be able to regenerate valid CDN URL of archived stories and posts. Also by brute-forcing Media ID’s, an attacker could be able to store the details about specific media and later filter which are private and archived.

Facebook then investigated the issue and found that he was right. The Facebook team has fixed the issue and sent a message to Mayur and thanked him.

With that Facebook announced that because of this help they are rewarding him with $30,000 USD which is almost equal to 22 Lakh and 26 thousand Indian rupees.
